Who is responsible

Petri Johansson is the controller for personal information processed through this site and related correspondence. Questions and data protection requests can be sent to hello@petrijohansson.com.

What is processed and why

• If you email me, I process the address, message and any information you choose to include so I can reply and manage the resulting correspondence. The legal basis is taking steps at your request or my legitimate interest in responding and maintaining relevant professional correspondence.
• Cloudflare processes ordinary technical request and security data needed to deliver and protect the site. This can include an IP address, request path, browser information, timestamps and security events. The purpose is reliable delivery, abuse prevention and fault diagnosis, based on the legitimate interest in operating a secure website.
• Choosing a light or dark theme stores the value petri-theme in your browser. It stays on your device and is not transmitted as analytics data.
• Plausible provides aggregate traffic statistics without cookies or persistent browser identifiers. Requests necessarily include an IP address and browser information, but Plausible says it does not store the raw values. It creates a daily changing identifier and keeps the resulting visitor data in the EU. I use the statistics to understand which pages are useful. The only custom events are copying the email address and opening the LinkedIn or X links. No message content or email address is sent to Plausible. The basis is my legitimate interest in improving the site with minimal data.

Service providers and locations

Cloudflare provides DNS, hosting, security and inbound email routing. Microsoft provides the destination email service. Plausible provides aggregate site analytics and hosts visitor data in the EU. These providers process information under their applicable service and data protection terms. Cloudflare operates a global network and uses its data processing addendum and transfer safeguards for relevant cross-border processing.

Retention

Cloudflare Worker application logs are retained for no longer than seven days under the available service settings. Email correspondence is retained only while it remains relevant to the conversation, relationship or an applicable legal obligation. Information that is no longer needed is deleted. Plausible's aggregate site statistics are retained while the analytics account is active and can be deleted from that account.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict personal data, and to object to processing. Contact me using the email address above. You may also lodge a complaint with Finland's Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman. This site does not use automated decision-making or profiling.
